Safety Factor

The ration between minimum breaking load and safe working load (SWL) is termed safety factor. The safe working load is only applicable for new slings and old ones which are in excellent condition.

The safe working load must never be exceeded. The factor of safety does not give you extra usable capacity.

Connecting Slings

Never connect two slings if the rope have different lay direction, i.e- one right - and one left lay. Slings will rotate under load and unlay. In case of a hand spliced eye the tucks will be pulled out by the unlaying tendency.
